Niphos Coatings is a former electro-less nickel-plating facility that has been closed since March of 2010. Essentially hidden by trees and foliage in a residential area Niphos looks more like a poorly maintained home than a business. The facility contained several drums, tanks, and vats that held acids, cyanides and other hazardous materials.

In September of 2012 the EPA conducted a Site walk-through at the Niphos Coatings. After completing the initial walk-through an emergency response action was believed appropriate. Hazardous substances of distress include sodium cyanide, copper cyanide, nickel sulfate, nitric acid and various plating wastes.
